Winter getting you down? Here in the Pontiac, we cheer up, dress up, and get outside to celebrate the season. Here are five municipalities that are taking winter by storm and having a ball. Get out over the next few weekends and enjoy these wonderful wintery activities.
This is an exciting year for the Bryson Recreation Centre. They have a new rink and they will be dancing, skating, bowling and they will be playing hockey on their newly minted ice all weekend. Off the ice, there will be snowshoeing, carnival games and ball hockey.
Lac Jim Snow Drags – January 18, 2020 ~ Mansfield
You have to see this event at least once. The snow drags are thrilling to watch. Warm-up afterward with a spaghetti supper and dance in the lodge.
Campbell’s Bay Winter Carnival – Sunday, January 26, 2020
Strap on your skates for a full day of icy excitement. Ride the snowy sliding hill, get your elbows out for a fun-filled hockey game or just spend some time sitting around the campfire and sipping hot chocolate. There will be a free hot lunch and all sorts of other fun and games.
Pontiac Winter Carnival ~ January 24 to 26, 2020 ~ Luskville Community Centre
The Lumberjack competition is worth the trip alone. These folks can do amazing things with a saw. After the show, enjoy a scenic sleigh ride then make a snowman or women. Don’t forget to decorate your toque.
Shawville Winter Carnival ~ February 22, 2020
There will be a free barbeque, hot dogs, and hot chocolate as you skate on the outdoor rink. Wheelchair accessible.
